The alternative guide of what to do when your plan isn’t going according to plan.

There is a plethora of information out there about planning and strategy – how to do this and how to do that….

But what do you do when your plan doesn’t go according to plan?

Which, let’s face it, is only almost all of the time…..

Maybe you become even more determined to make it work?

You tell yourself you are going to overcome the obstacles, and then it seems that more and more obstacles appear to overcome.

Or maybe you become disillusioned and demotivated?

You tell yourself it isn’t possible, you can’t do it and so you stop taking action.

Or maybe you decide it is more sensible to be like everyone else?

So you stick with what you are doing, even though your dreams still whisper to you when no one else is around.

Or maybe you decide it’s another example of not being good enough? Open book

Which reinforces your old feelings that you’re not good enough.

Or maybe you look for someone to blame?

You get mad and direct your energy to how you are going to get even.

But whatever you do, all of these things have two things in common.

They are all about judgement and conclusions.

It’s what we are taught to do.

Now that may work if you choose in the moment, and then choose again in the next moment.

But often what happens is we decide what it so, and so it becomes what it so. Or another way of putting it is that you stick the energy.

What you believe, you create.

Don’t believe me?

Then I challenge you to change your point of view about something and then see what happens in your world.

How do you do this?

Ask a question.

So when the plan doesn’t go according to plan, and you notice you are making statements, and going over and over what has happened in your mind, ask some of these questions and see what happens.

What else is possible here?

How does it get better than this?

How could this turn out even better than I can imagine?

How can I use this to my advantage?

What’s right about this I’m not getting?

What information do I require here?

But you won’t want to try these out…… They might just work, things could turn out greater than you can imagine, and then you would have to give up your story!
